Job description
About Maqqie
We are Maqqie, one of the fastest-growing tech companies in the Netherlands. Our mission is to create a digital labor market that works better for everyone. We currently achieve this by offering an online solution for contracting and paying employees. For all types of contracts, from permanent to temporary, from employee to temporary worker and freelancer. Do you want to help us change the labor market? Then apply for the position of Information Security Engineer (32-40 hours).
About the Role
As Information Security Engineer you will be responsible for building security directly into our software development processes and infrastructure. You'll work hands-on with our engineering teams to implement security controls, automate security testing, and ensure our applications are secure by design. This is a technical role that requires strong software development skills combined with security expertise. You will work in cross-functional teams with our engineering squads to embed security practices throughout our development lifecycle. This means that you will be responsible for:
Secure Development Implementation: Design and implement security controls within our CI/CD pipelines. Build automated security testing tools, static code analysis integration, and vulnerability scanning systems that run as part of our development workflow
Security Architecture & Engineering: Work directly with development teams to architect secure solutions. Review code for security issues, implement secure coding standards, and build security libraries and frameworks that our engineers can use
DevSecOps & Automation: Build and maintain security automation tools and infrastructure. Create security-focused monitoring, logging, and alerting systems. Implement Infrastructure as Code practices with security controls built-in
Incident Response & Technical Investigation: Lead technical investigation of security incidents. Develop automated response tools and improve our systems based on lessons learned. Build monitoring and detection capabilities into our applications
Compliance Through Engineering: Implement technical controls to meet regulatory requirements like GDPR and ISO/IEC 27001. Build audit trails, data protection mechanisms, and compliance reporting tools directly into our systems
You will be working within the Technology department. Tech exists out of 14 engineers divided over 3 teams. You will report to Luc Klaassen, our Head of Engineering.

Good to Know
Creating the labour market of the future starts with us. We spend a lot of time and attention on our internal organization. You will work in a young and ambitious team. The average age at Maqqie is 33 years. We work hard together but also laugh a lot. We focus on your growth and development. Therefore, from day one, you will have the freedom to do your thing. We know better than anyone that your ideas work best when you have the space for them.
At the beginning of 2024, we moved to the centre of Rotterdam. Our office is located on the Coolsingel opposite the City Hall and is only 5 minutes from Rotterdam Central. You can join the group lunch, and there are plenty of dining and drinking options around the office. We are also a hybrid company. There are possibilities to work from the office, home, or temporarily from abroad.
In 2025, we aim to make the contracting and payment of employees even easier. All laws, regulations, collective agreements, and wishes around employment make the deployment and payment of employees incredibly complex. At Maqqie, we are making this more efficient step by step, and where possible, we automate it. By the end of this year, we want to be the payment engine of the labour market: providing every type of employee (employee, freelancer, temporary worker) with a contract, hours registration, support, and payment. A great challenge for which we can use your help. Additionally, we continuously improve our product and our brand.
Okay, sounds good, what now?
Great that you are interested in this role! We would love to receive your motivation letter and resume. The process is as follows:
We select the best-suited candidates based on the motivation letters and resumes

Checked all the boxes? Then we go for it and sign the contract 🎉
